We strongly believe in empowering each student to achieve his or her best in exams and in life. Our service is all about helping your child
build the important knowledge, skill and disposition. Each student is taught the right skills and techniques to conquer specific exam
components. Our teachers also guide students so they can develop positive learning attitudes.
We have a wide range collection of teaching materials. In addition to this, we have been continuously producing our own booklets of
every chapter. Each booklet is meticulously designed with a specific learning outcome that will benefit students tremendously.
Our lesson materials are directly relevant to school curriculum as we monitor school exam papers and international exam papers on
regular basis. A-Star Tuition also gathers constant feedback from students, teachers and parents to ensure that our materials are useful
and effective tools for teachers to use in class.
In our lessons, we do encourage students to continually improve. One of the ways to do this is to help student master concepts and guide
them on how to apply this learnt knowledge to a slightly more complex task. This is done incrementally with guidance from teachers. Our
curriculum is not set so difficult that students cannot manage. Rather, we systematically guide students to think deeply, to make
improvements and to excel with each task they do.
Our teachers hold a minimum Bachelor degree in either Math/Physics/Chemistry/Engineering with distinction. Some of them earned a
Master degree from a reputable institution.
We carefully select the best teachers who have an exceptional analytical skill, a good teaching delivery, a strong English proficiency and
an absolute commitment. For this reason, our recruitment process is very stringent.
First stage is a written exam equivalent to IB HL paper. We assess the content mastery and problem solving skill at this stage. A minimum
result of 90% is required to pass this stage. Second stage is a teaching demonstration. We assess the teaching clarity, teaching style as
well as language proficiency at this stage.
Parent may request for a feedback after student is enrolled for at least 4 lessons. In addition to this, parent may also periodically request for a feedback from the teacher.
Parent may set up an appointment through admin staff to meet the teacher in person. Alternatively, parent may also send an email or a
whatsapp text to us. We’ll forward it to the respective teacher and reply you after we receive a reply from the teacher. Unfortunately, we
can’t share teacher phone number or email address as we have an internal agreement about this with the teachers.
Many of our classes are single level classes. This means students going to those classes come from the same grade and learn the same
curriculum at school. We believe that this concept will enhance the effectiveness of teaching learning process and optimize the learning
outcome. As for our mixed classes, we try to minimize the number of different levels according to our way of grouping the students. Our
teachers are accustomed to working swiftly with multiple levels. When one student has a question, the teacher can respond it promptly
while ensuring the rest of students being busy with their work so no time is wasted.
Our class schedules are as the followings:
Monday to Thursday: 3:30pm-5:30pm, 5:30pm-7:30pm, 7:30pm-9:30pm
Friday: 3:30pm-5:30pm, 5:30pm-7:30pm
Saturday: 9:00am-11:00am, 11:00am-1:00pm, 1:00pm-3:00pm.
We assign homework to our students as a way of evaluating their understanding of what was taught in class. However, we understand
that some students may be overwhelmed with other commitments. If you do not wish your child to have any homework from us, please
kindly inform us so that any homework assigned to the class will be optional for your child.
